Privacy Policy
Last updated October 25, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Humm ("Humm", "we", "us") collects, uses and shares personal information when you use the Humm app, eathumm.com and related services (the "Services"), and the choices you have. Questions or requests: hello@eathumm.com.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account information: your email address and the display name you choose. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your email address (or an Apple private relay address) and, the first time, your name.
- Content you add: reviews, ratings and review photos; cooks you save; cooks you suggest (a link, city, notes and photos); reports you file; people you block.
- Waitlist sign-ups: your email address, and the area you asked about.
- Messages: anything you send us by email.
Information collected automatically
- Approximate location: with your permission, the app reads your location and rounds it to about 1 km before sending it to us, to check that you're in an area we serve and to show cooks nearby. If location is off, we may estimate a city-level location from your IP address. We don't collect or store precise location.
- Usage events: when you tap to order from a cook or share a cook, we record the cook, the channel and the time.
- Device and log information: our hosting providers automatically log technical information such as IP address, device and operating system type, app version and request times, to operate and secure the Services.
- Notifications: if you allow notifications, a device push token.
We don't collect payment information, contacts, photos you don't choose to upload, or precise location. We don't use advertising SDKs or cross-app tracking.
2. How we use information
- To provide the Services: create and run your account, sign you in, show cooks near you, save your favorites and display your reviews.
- To review cook suggestions, handle reports, enforce our Terms, and keep Humm safe, including preventing fraud and abuse.
- To communicate with you: sign-in codes, notifications you asked for, responses to your messages, and, if you joined the waitlist, an email when Humm launches in your area.
- To understand and improve the Services, for example which cooks and cuisines are popular, using aggregated information.
- To comply with law and respond to lawful requests.
3. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising. We share it only:
- Publicly, as you choose: your reviews, review photos and display name are visible to other users. Your email, saves, suggestions, reports and blocks are not.
- With service providers who process it on our behalf under contract: Supabase (database, authentication and storage, in the United States), Cloudflare (website hosting and email routing), Resend (email delivery), Apple (Sign in with Apple and push notifications), Google (Google sign-in) and an IP geolocation provider.
- For legal reasons: when required by law or legal process, or to protect the rights, safety and property of Humm, our users or others.
- In a business transfer: if Humm is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, under this policy's protections.
When you tap to order, you leave Humm for the cook's own Instagram, TikTok or Facebook. Information you share there is governed by those services and the cook, not by this policy.
4. Google user data
If you sign in with Google, we receive only your basic profile (name and email address) and use it only to create and sign in to your Humm account. Our use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
5. How long we keep information
We keep personal information while your account is open and as needed to provide the Services. When you delete your account, we delete your account information, reviews, review photos, saves, suggestions and push tokens. Usage events are kept without your account attached. Reports may be kept, without your account attached, as long as needed for safety. Waitlist emails are kept until you ask us to remove them or we no longer need them. Server logs are kept for a limited period by our providers. Backups are overwritten on their regular schedule.
6. Your choices and rights
- Delete your account in the app: Profile › Delete account.
- Delete a review from its menu.
- Location and notifications: turn them off any time in iOS Settings.
- Access, correct or delete: email hello@eathumm.com to request a copy of your information, correct it, or delete it.
Depending on where you live, including California, Washington and other U.S. states, you may have rights to know, access, correct, delete and receive a copy of your personal information, to opt out of sale, sharing and targeted advertising (which we don't do), and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. To make a request, email us. We'll verify your request using information associated with your account, respond within the time the law requires, and you may appeal a decision by replying to our response. You may use an authorized agent where the law allows.
Do Not Track: because we don't track you across websites or apps, we don't respond differently to Do Not Track signals.
7. Security
We use reasonable safeguards, including encryption in transit, access controls and row-level database permissions, to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.
8. Children
The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.
9. Where information is processed
Humm is based in the United States, and we process and store information in the United States. If you use the Services from elsewhere, your information will be transferred to the United States.
10. Changes
We may update this policy. We'll post the new version with a new "Last updated" date and, for material changes, notify you in the app or by email.
